Neckpiece: RETROSPECT. (v3) (2013)
Pendant: 4 x 2 1/4 x 1/2" (9.5 x 5.5 x 1.2cm)
Silk cord: 21 1/2" (55cm)
Early 20th-century rubber teething ring, Art Deco mirrored glass cabochon, pearlescent shell bead, waxed linen thread, kiln-fused glass, 16th-century paper, tussah silk, Victorian steel key, bronze, 1919 St. Louis railway token, brass, paint, soil.
This early rubber baby accessory serves as the scaffold for one of my kiln-fused images on glass. This striking double portrait is in my personal ambrotype collection and resonates with affection and mystery.
The soft silk cord, which was woven in a kumihimo pattern, is quite small in length, making the piece sit high on the chest in a pleasing position. Although the pendant and cord were created last year, the clasp was added recently, making this piece, in effect, my newest work for sale.
